Admissions: What type of student are you?

Limited Access Health Science Admissions Requirements

Some health science programs offered by HGTC are limited in the number of students that can be accepted. Space may be restricted for a number of reasons, including availability of clinical teaching facilities on- and off- campus, graduate placement opportunities for students, limits imposed by state or professional accrediting agencies, and budget restrictions. Admission to Horry Georgetown Technical College's Health Sciences programs requires an extensive application process, but our Admissions Office is here to help you every step of the way.

Enrollment Overview:

1. Submit a College Application by one of the following methods:

Horry Georgetown Technical College

P.O. Box 261966
Conway, SC 29528-6066
Each application must be submitted along with a non-refundable $30 fee.

2. Apply for Financial Aid

Begin the Financial Aid application process( www.fafsa.ed.gov) when you apply to HGTC. Processing your application may take several weeks, but this will determine your eligibility for several financial aid programs. Learn more about Financial Aid.

3. Submit your Transcripts

Request that your high school and/or college(s) mail an official transcript to the HGTC Admissions Office. Official transcripts can also be emailed (by the high school or college via secure email) to transcripts@hgtc.edu. They can also be hand-delivered to the HGTC Admissions Office in an envelope sealed by high school or college staff.

4. Take the COMPASS Placement Test

You can take the COMPASS test in any one of HGTC's Testing Centers. SAT and/or ACT scores are acceptable in place of COMPASS scores, or testing may not be required if you have previously earned a “C” or better in college-level English or math courses. Learn more about the COMPASS Placement Test and the Testing Center or schedule an appointment.

Notes: After your application is complete, you will receive your HGTC student ID number, called an “H-number”. Be sure to make a copy of this number for your home and carry your H-number card when you're on campus

You will also receive a Username and Password for access to WaveNet, the college-information site. You will have a WaveNet account so that you can check financial aid, account balance, grades, email, and much more. On each campus, WaveNet Central can assist you in navigating this useful site.

5. Submit the Additional Admission/Placement Requirements Affidavit and Background Check, when required

Before you can be admitted to a Health Science program, you must sign and submit this form.

6. Attend a New Student Health Science Enrollment Advising Session

All health science applicants must attend a mandatory enrollment advising session. This is an opportunity to ask questions, work on a class schedule, and learn about your program of study.
