As a student at HGTC, it is very important that you get off to a great start and maintain clear goals and objectives. Our advisors are here to make sure of just that! Based on overall college expectations that are set forth in our Guided Plan for Success (GPS), HGTC faculty and advisors work together to help our students come up with an Academic Plan that will be beneficial and supportive of their career goals.
New Student Advisors (NSA)New Student Advisors meet with newly admitted students upon entering the college. When you speak with an NSA, they help guide you and recommend courses to take, based on your placement test scores or transfer credits.
Your NSA collaborates with you to develop a Personalized Academic Plan, or MAP, that is a compilation of the courses required for completion of your degree program. The MAP also includes your self-identified Strengths, Challenges, and Goals.
Contact one of the following advisors to get started as an HGTC student:
- Susan Greer

Faculty AdvisorsTo assist you as you progress through your degree, an FA within your program of study uses the information in your MAP to ensure that your goals are being met and that you are taking advantage of all of the services that the college has to offer.
FAs are available during their office hours and by appointment. They meet with you and make adjustments to your MAP, as needed. Click here for a complete list of Faculty Advisors.
